Peres: Soldiers beaten up because they didn't want to kill anyone

President Shimon Peres said he was proud of the Navy fighters who took part in the raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla and that they acted in an unusually humane manner.

"Why were they beaten up? Because they didn't want to kill anyone. Any other army would take out the guns and start shooting. Here we saw exemplary soldiers, who preferred to get hurt themselves before hurting anyone else," the president said. (Ahiya Raved)
