Police detective and Border Guard officers disrupted the calm in the streets of Binyamina on Monday night as they raided a storeroom in one of the houses in the northern town, where a large amount of drugs was hidden.
The forces, which arrived from the Zichron Yaacov station, were surprised to learn that the house belonged to a 91-year old woman, whose 47-year-old grandson allegedly hid as much as 6 kilograms of marijuana worth NIS 60,000 (about $15,970).
The drugs were found packed in plastic bags. The grandson, who also lives in Binyamina, was arrested following an initial investigation.
Chief Superintendent Eitan Menashe, commander of the Zichron Yaacov station, told Ynet that the grandson was questioned on suspicion on planning to sell the drugs and that the police would ask the court to keep him in custody.
Last week, the police announced that an undercover agent had managed to frame 70 drug dealers who operated in the Sharon region for about a year.
