2 Givati soldiers convicted for Cast Lead offense
A military court found two Givati soldiers guilty of overstepping authority in a manner that endangers life and limb during Operation Cast Lead. According to the indictment, the two combat soldiers breached orders when they demanded a Palestinian child to open suspicious bags during an operation in the Gaza Strip.
During the trial, the soldiers claimed they "felt betrayed by the military" and that "this is a case that emanates a stench of wanting to appease international bodies that criticized Israel." (Roi Mandel)
