Ukrainian law enforcers say they were not involved in last month's arrest of a Palestinian engineer and his transportation to an Israeli prison.
National Security Service spokeswoman Marina Ostapenko said Wednesday the agency is unaware how Dirar Abu Sisi, a top engineer at Gaza's power plant, disappeared from Ukraine and ended up in custody in Israel.
Abu Sisi, who is married to a Ukrainian, boarded a train in eastern Ukraine Feb. 18 and surfaced in detention in Israel a day later, according to his family and a rights group.
Israeli authorities have said little about the case because of a gag order, only confirming that he is being held in custody.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said it plans to summon the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine to inquire about the case.
