Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu andhis wife Sara filed a libel suit against Channel 10 News on Tuesday for their reports on the Bibi tours affair. They are demanding NIS 3.5 million (roughly $1 million) in compensation.
According to the lawsuit, Channel 10 disregarded facts and put forward fabrications in an attempt to degrade and humiliate the prime minister and his wife to the point of compromising Netanyahu's political position.
The couple denied allegations ofdouble-billing andclaimed that the Heritage organization and the Ashdod Medical Center were the same organization working under two names by law.
Netanyahu and wife Sara also claimed that Channel 10 aired false stories in a deliberate manner after being presented with the facts in answer to their questions. They claimed the stories were part of a smear campaign against them.
Channel 10 News said in response: "We stand behind the story as aired."
