Leader of Dushinsky Hasidic dynasty threatens to expel members caught with 'non-kosher' cellular phones, computer with Internet connection
The leader of the Dushinsky Hasidic dynasty is threatening to expel any community members caught with a "non-kosher" cellular phone or a computer with Internet connection, including iPhones.
During a sermon delivered recently, Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky launched an unprecedented attack on the modern devices. "Internet and computers, no need for talking anymore. Anyone caught with a non-kosher device will be thrown out of the yeshiva immediately," he said.
The Rebbe not only called for a boycott of electronic devices which do not meet strict Orthodox rules, but also demanded that they be burned.

The rabbi added that students whose parents own a computer with Internet connection would be expelled from the Hasidic dynasty's institutions.
"I warn you that anyone who owns any of these devices must burn them tonight. Many houses have been ruined because of this and many divorce cases are the result of this destruction."
He went on to discuss the Hasidism's matchmaking customs, saying that many Hasidim had complained to him about them. "Whoever does not wish to obey the rules should not look for a match within families from the Hasidism," he ruled.
Meanwhile, a suggestion has been made to deem the Blackberry device "kosher" due to its rising popularity among the haredi sector. According to a pilot trial conducted recently, the kosher Blackberry would only be used for email access and not for phone calls.
