100 Palestinians clash with soldiers near Qalandiya Checkpoint

Some 100 Palestinians are clashing with Israel Defense Forces soldiers at the entrance to the Qalandiya Checkpoint in the Ramallah area. The Palestinians are hurling stones at the troops, who are firing gas grenades in response.

The crossing has been closed to traffic due to the incident. The protestors, including Palestinian leader Mustafa Narghouti and foreign activists, are chanting: "The people want an end to the occupation. The return of the refugees is our legal right."
