The application rates offers according to a weighted calculation of the discounts, distance from stores and popularity of the deals among other users.
Developers Danny Benger and Ori Keren explain, "The profile of a man who likes Celio will be different than that of a woman who likes Nine West."
Additional services include navigation to the desired location including estimated time of arrival by car and by foot and a virtual wallet in which users can keep selected deals and coupons.
As opposed to other location-base applications, users do not have to report their location by pressing a special key making the application more user friendly as automatic location requires little power.
At this point, hundreds of stores across Israel are Towntouch partners, including chains such as Lee Cooper, Swatch, Celio, Daphna Levinson, Impress and Nine West.
"We already have initial data that shows that the application is being used throughout the country", says Benger.
Aside from the application that interfaces directly with the retail chains, Towntouch has also developed a dedicated application for deals at the Azrieli Mall in Tel-Aviv, and is expected to expand its partnership with Azrieli to additional malls.
Asked why there is a need for a dedicated application when the mall stores already appear on the general application, Benger explains that "the mall has its own branding and its dedicated application includes mall maps and regular notification of launches, events and deals."
