Report: Algerian troops kill leader of N. African al-Qaeda offshoot
A leader of an al-Qaeda offshoot operating in North Africa and his deputy were killed Monday by the Algerian security forces, local sources reported.
According to the report, Mohand Ouramdane and his second in command were killed in an ambush by Algerian troops in the town of Azib Ahmed, about 3 km east of the city of Tizi Ouzou. The report has not been confirmed by official sources. (AFP)
