Knesset guards securing the entrance to the parliament building in Jerusalem on Monday found a gun in Deputy Minister Ayoob Kara's bag. The guards informed the authorities of the incident.
"This is my own personal weapon, which I am licensed to carry," Kara (Likud) told Ynet. "I don't understand what all the commotion is about."
The MK said, "I forgot my bag in the car so I asked my driver to get it for me, but he apparently brought the wrong bag.
"I didn't know that it was prohibited to bring in a weapon. Now I know," he added.
Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin has instructed head of security at the parliament building to investigate the incident.
