Fathi Hamad, who serves as the interior minister and minister for national security in the Hamas government, supervised the drill.
"The drill aims to increase the Palestinian public's awareness to the dangers of natural disasters like fires and floods, or fire that are the result of Israel's aggression and bombing," he said.
The drill peaked at a simulation of fires in Palestine Square, one of the Strip's main squares.
Commander of the Gaza Fire Department Brigadier-General Yusuf Zahar said the location was chosen so that as many Gazans as possible could take part in it, and become more informed.
The drill reportedly garnered the public's interest and has been hailed a success.
