Ran Rimon|
Some 1,100 jobs were offered to southern Israel residents aged 45 and above, in the framework of a special job fair held by the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry in Dimona Tuesday.
More than 70 employers took part in the special event, which was also attended by Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Shalom Simhon.
More than 3,000 job seekers were expected to participate in the job fair.
The event also featured a special complex earmarked for job seekers aged 60 and above. Members or local youth groups also took part in the project and assisted in directing participants.
Other ventures at the site aimed to bridge the generational gap between older and younger Israelis.
During the fair, Minister Simhon inaugurated an employment center established at the site in the aim of boosting the employment level in the eastern Negev region, which has been afflicted by high unemployment levels, especially among older residents.
