A Dutch national was shot by Israeli police officers on Monday. The man in is serious condition. The police's Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident.
Initial details suggest that the police were called to a Bat Yam residence at 3:30 pm by the couple the man was staying with. The two said he had become erratic and threatened them, as well as threatened that he would go down to the street and "slaughter people."

The couple told the police that the man threatened "to kill anyone I come across."
As two police officers arrived at the scene, the spotted the suspect fleeing inside the building. In the ensuing pursuit the fired both tear gas and live rounds at him. One of the shots injured him.
The police have sealed off the premises and began interviewing witnesses. One of the neighbors told Ynet that the man had been staying with the couple for nearly a year and had never before caused a disturbance.
Attorney Gil Dahuah, who is representing the policeman that shot the suspect said the officer fired "as a last resort. His life was in danger and he followed protocol."
