According to the prisoner, Topaz passed a coded message to his brother, Mickey Goldenberg, asking him to grant the prisoner NIS 50,000.The plaintiff said he had forged close relationship with Topaz in prison.
He claims he paid for Topaz's purchases at the prison canteen and cooked meals for him.
Topaz was arrested in June 2009 for allegedly targeting top TV executives and was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, aggravated assault and obstruction of justice. The entertainer committed suicide in his cell's bathroom several months later.
The cellmate claims Topaz asked his brother to give the money to his cellmate's wife, and was even questioned on the subject following Topaz's death. He further argues that he discussed the issue with Topaz's brother, and received confirmation from him that he would transfer the sum.
However, shortly after his brother's death, Goldenberg refused to change the will, a decision supported by court. Now, Topaz's cellmate is filing a lawsuit against Topaz's inheritance executer, and is demanding to receive his share of the fortune.
