Three relatives, ages 25, 56 and 66, were killed Friday evening after a vehicle ran over them on Sderot Ben-Zvi in Netanya. Two of the victims were a mother and daughter and the third victim was the mother's cousin.
The vehicle continued to drive for several meters before it came to a stop. The two passengers escaped by foot, but one of them turned himself in to a nearby police station shortly after the incident. The suspect, 26, claimed he was the one driving the Audi, but investigators suspect he is covering for another suspect who is familiar to the police.
The police said the suspect, Shoshan Barbi, 35, from Netanya, has a criminal record, and was considered a key figure in Netanya's underworld up until a few years ago.

The circumstances of the incident, which occurred around 8pm, are still unclear.
Magen David Adom medics attempted to resuscitate the women, but had to pronounce two of them dead at the scene. The third woman was transferred to a hospital, but was pronounced dead before arrival.
The police launched an investigation into the incident.
The vehicle sustained heavy damages to its left side and hood; one of its windshields was shattered and the airbags inflated from the powerful impact.
An initial investigation suggests that the vehicle was driving over the speed limit when it hit the women, who were crossing on a crosswalk.
