The Iron Dome missile was launched in order to intercept a rocket fired from Gaza, but it landed near its launcher due to a technical malfunction.
Soldiers who were alerted to the scene neutralized the missile and cleared it from the area.
On Saturday the Iron Dome system intercepted a rocket that was fired toward the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
The Iron Dome battery was deployed in the area about two months ahead of schedule due to the rocket fire from Gaza.
