Minister Atias: We froze construction, yet Abbas refused to negotiate

Housing and Construction Minister Ariel Atias backed the government's decision to approve the construction of 3,000 housing units in Jerusalem and the West Bank in response to the UN's recognition of Palestine as an observer state.

"The Israeli government has unprecedentedly decided to freeze construction for 10 months; and Abu Mazen still refused to negotiate during that time. His move at the UN doesn’t bring the Palestinians any closer to a state," Atias said, adding that "The Housing and Construction Ministry will market hundreds of housing units in Jerusalem's Pisgat Zeev neigborhood this week."
