Two IDF soldiers and a Border Guard officer were lightly hurt in the incident, which took place outside the West Bank village of Kafr Qaddum.
The video shows the Palestinians cheering and chasing the soldiers. The troops were eventually able to control and disperse the crowd.
The incident took place mere days after an IDF force escaped an angry mob in Hebron.
The IDF has noted a significant rise in violent clashes between Palestinians and security forces in the weeks after Operation Pillar of Defense.
Soldiers encountering the growing number of stoning and Molotov cocktail incidents say that the rules of engagement they are operating under are vague.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit issued the following statement: "The incident depicted in the video is being investigated. The event took place during a violent and illegal riot in Qaddum – one of the most violent areas in the Judea and Samaria Sector.
"Following the incident, the orders pertaining to crowd control were clarified further, stressing that soldiers must break up violent riots with professional determination, while exerting operational discretion as to the use of force."
