Peres denounces racism on football field
President Shimon Peres sent a harsh letter on Tuesday to Israel Football Association President Avi Luzon in light of the racist signs Beitar Jerusalem football club fans waved and their determined opposition to adding two Muslim players to the team.
Peres wrote to Luzon ahead of the game between Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Umm al-Fahm that "the football fans must refrain from any expression or show of racism on the field and outside it." (Noam Dvir)
