Some gems have included his insistence that President Obama release his birth certificate to prove that he was born in the United States, which opened a debate on his xenophobic nature, and his recent threats to sue Mac Miller for the song "Donald Trump," after first praising the young rapper.
On Wednesday, Trump wrote a tweet about Jon Stewart of "The Daily Show," with many believing it has anti-Semitic undertones.
“I promise you that I’m much smarter than Jonathan Leibowitz – I mean Jon Stewart @TheDailyShow. Who, by the way, is totally overrated,” Trump wrote.
The reference to Stewart birth name as ammunition against him has triggered quite a response from the Twitter community.
"@realDonaldTrump @thedailyshow I knew you were more than just a racist. Proud of you for showing your anti-Semitic stripes too,” tweeted “Ellen” producer Andy Lassner.
“Ha. @realDonaldTrump outs Jon Stewart…as…a Jew! Gasp! http://bit.ly/10doXnV -Classy spokesperson you've got there @macys. #DumpTrump," tweeted Angelo Carusone, who is leading a campaign for Macy’s to end their relationship with Trump.
It is unknown why Trump decided to target Stewart to begin with, but speculation leads to a random Twitter follower that encouraged Trump to run for president because “Jon Stewart would destroy him.”
