An 11-month-old baby from the village of Musmus died Wednesday after she had been left in the family car for hours.

Police launched an investigation of the incident and the baby's father, in his 30s, was taken to questioning for suspicion of negligent homicide and neglect of a helpless minor.

According to a police source with the Umm al-Fahm police department, one of the baby's parents was driving her back from daycare and left her in the car.

A few hours later, the parents took the baby to the Haemek Medical Center in Afula.

A Magen David Adom paramedic called to the scene performed CPR on the child, but to no avail. Her death was pronounced en route to the hospital.

Magen David Adom Spokesman Zachy Heller told Ynet: "Our team met up with the baby's parents on their way to the hospital but the baby was no longer alive."

A relative of the baby's parents told Ynet: "I still can't believe it happened and I can't talk to the parents because of their mental state. They are responsible people who always look after their children. I find it hard to fathom the fact that the baby was forgotten in the car."
