Chomsky urged Hawking to reject Presidential Conference

The British Guardian newspaper reported Noam Chomsky, among 20 other academics, sent renowned physicist Stephen Hawking a letter urging him not to accept the invitation to the Presidential Conference in Jerusalem. Hawking cancelled his acceptance of the invitation this week.

According to the report, Chomsky and 20 other academics wrote Hawking that they are very disappointed that he had accepted the invitation since "Israel systematically discriminates against the Palestinians who make up 20% of its population in ways that would be illegal in Britain." (Ynet)
