Al-Jazeera draws fire over self-censorship

Qatar-based network criticized over decision to remove controversial article posted on its website amid claims story is 'anti-Jewish'

But following the criticism, the al-Jazeera website republished the article with a note from the head of online, Imad Musa, saying the situation should have been handled better, however stating that al-Jazeera did not submit to pressure under any circumstance.

Although the post by Musa does not clarify why the piece was removed in the first place some have speculated that the move is linked to al-Jazeera’s ambition to expand in the United States.

The author of the controversial piece supports this view and says the news organization is increasingly willing to bow to the American mainstream media view, especially on Israel.

The story first published last week drew historical links between Zionism and anti-Semitism, pointing out the shared goals of the Nazis and Zionists in facilitating the departure of Jews from Europe.
