Turkish president: Time for park protesters to go
Protesters holed up in a cherished Istanbul park to protect it from a government redevelopment plan "should now return home" and end a two-week standoff with Turkish authorities, Turkey's president said Saturday.
Abdullah Gul wrote on Twitter that "the channels for discussion and dialogue" have opened, a day after the Turkish prime minister met with a small group of delegates from the protest in Gezi Park. "I believe that this process will lead to positive results," Gul wrote. "Everyone should now return home."
