KitchenAid, SodaStream teaming up

Home appliance brand's partnership with Israeli company will give it access to fast-growing at-home carbonation market

KitchenAid is teaming up with SodaStream on an at-home carbonation machine, looking to expand its product line.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

SodaStream's machines let people make fizzy water at home, with a variety of concentrated flavors that can be added to create different beverages. The company has been making a push to expand its US business.

Earlier this month, PepsiCo Inc. denied rumors that it plans to buy the company.

KitchenAid is mostly known for its colorful mixers and other kitchen appliances. The partnership with Israel's SodaStream International Ltd. will give it access to the fast-growing at-home carbonation market.

"Working with SodaStream brings together their best-in-class technology with our stylish design signature to offer a premium product for our consumers worldwide," David Elliott, general manager of KitchenAid small appliances, said in a statement on Monday.

The at-home carbonation machine is expected in stores in the fourth quarter.
