A woman thought to be 60 was raped by an intruder who broke into her apartment in central Tel Aviv three weeks ago, it has been cleared for publication.
The assault took place on July 24 at 5 am when the suspect broke into the woman's apartment and raped her at knife point. He then fled the scene taking with him the woman's purse and mobile phone. The details of the case are under a gag order.

Police initially arrested two suspects linked to the cell phone but released them several days later. The investigation is ongoing and the rapist is still at large.
It remains unclear whether the assailant broke into the apartment with the intent to rob the woman or assault her. Police issued a comprehensive gag order on the case which has twice been extended.
A similar assault occurred last month when a disabled woman was raped at her Tel Aviv home by a burglar. Police arrested Brehan Atkelta, a 24-year-old Eritrean migrant, who confessed to the charges, several days later.
