Lebanese Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said in a televised interview that it is possible the Beirut blast is an Israeli retaliation to an operation allegedly carried out by Hezbollah on the Israeli border last week. Four IDF soldier were wounded in the attack.
Meanwhile, Syrian Propaganda Minister Amran a-Zoubi condemned the blast, which occurred in Beirut's Dahiyeh quarter. According to him, "this is a cowardly action which directly serves the Israeli enemy and the countries which placed themselves under its command." (Roi Kais)
