However estimates now suggest that Tazazaa was killed under criminal circumstances. An examination conducted by the Palestinian security forces suggests that Tazazaa arrived at a Jenin medical center with critical gunshot wounds at around 4 am. He was transferred to a public hospital an hour later.
According to the IDF, the riots began at 5 am – at least an hour after Tazazaa's arrival at the medical center.
His family refused to grant permission for an autopsy.
Last week, Mohammed Assi, a member of the Islamic Jihad and one of the planners of the bombing attack on a Tel Aviv bus in November 2012, during Operation Pillar of Defense, was killed by an anti-tank missile fired at the tunnel where he had been hiding.
According to the defense establishment, Assi was planning another attack against Israeli civilians or IDF forces and refused to surrender to the forces surrounding the cave.
The Shin Bet added that two of Assi's aides were detained in Tuesday's raid: Muhammad Ibrahim Sais, 30, who was jailed by Israel for his activity in Islamic Jihad; and Abdullah Abu Assi, 22, from Beit Naima, who was also held by Israel in the past.
