Syrian chemical weapons will be transferred

The global chemical weapons watchdog says it is still confident it can destroy Syria's poison gas stockpile outside that country by mid-2014 despite Albania refusing to host the destruction.

The Organization for the Prohibition for Chemical Weapons adopted a formal plan late Friday to destroy more than 1,000 tons of toxic agents, but did not say where the deadly arsenal will be sent. Senior OPCW official Malik Ellahi has told reporters he can't name possible host countries, "but obviously there are options and there are ways in which this can be accomplished." (AP)
