Arabs hurl stones; police break into Temple Mount

Officers in Mughrabi Gate break into Temple Mount after being pelted with stones; disperse rioters. Three arrested

Police forces who were pelted with stones in Jerusalem's Mughrabi Gate stormed the Temple Mount compound on Friday. Police said several Arab youths were hurt while running away from officers, who used shock grenades.

 

The worshippers were removed from the site. Three were arrested.

Last Sunday, Jerusalem police closed the Temple Mount following a scuffle between Jews and Muslims. The clash erupted after several Jews began to sing Hannukah songs. Police arrested two Jews and two Muslims.

 

The month of September saw several violent incidents in the capital. Arab youths hurled stones at police near the Damascus Gate. One officer was lightly wounded in his hand and three protesters were arrested. A fourth suspect was later arrested in Ras al-Amud.

 

Two days earlier, police and Border Guard forces broke into the Temple Mount after dozens of Palestinian youths hurled stones, firecrackers and tear gas at police.
