MKs hold emergency session on breakdown of peace talks

Knesset members gathered Monday morning for an emergency session to discuss the apparent breakdown in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, and the failed attempt to secure the release of convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard.

The session comes on the heels of comments by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who said Sunday that he would rather hold early general elections than release more Palestinian terrorists. Israel backed out of the fourth, pre-agreed tranche of Palestinian prisoner releases last week, leading to unilateral steps by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. (Moran Azoulay)
