Turkey and Tunisia welcomed the Palestinian reconciliation agreement, and the head of the Arab League Nabil al-Arabi said his organization would support Palestinian Authority President Mahdmoud Abbas facing "Israeli pressure."
The EU also welcomed the inter-Palestinian agreement, but noted that the priority was continuing negotiations with Israel. France was willing to work with a Palestinian cabinet if it supports the peace process.
UN Middle East envoy Robert Serry also offered support for the Palestinian agreement after meeting Abbas on Thursday, saying in a statement it was "the only way to reunite the West Bank and Gaza under one legitimate Palestinian Authority". (AFP, Reuters)
