Kerry urges Hamas to seek peace based on Egyptian proposal
CAIRO - US Secretary of State John Kerry urged Hamas on Tuesday to seek peace negotiations based on an Egyptian truce proposal that the Islamist militant group has rejected.

After meeting the president of Egypt, a country which has mediated in the Arab-Israeli conflict in the past, Kerry said he held constructive talks with top Egyptian officials in a bid to end fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

He said he would keep working for a ceasefire in coming days.
