Gaza officials say Israel has carried out a new round of airstrikes and opened tank fire on the coastal strip, killing two Palestinians.
Police say one of the airstrikes struck the home of Omar al-Bursh, a Hamas justice ministry official, while another damaged Gaza's border crossing with Egypt.
Al-Bursh was unharmed in the attack. There were no details on the damage to the border crossing.
Meanwhile, health official Ashraf al-Kidra says a 42-year-old woman died from tank fire in the north of the strip while a 22-year-old man died in an airstrike in Gaza City.
The Israeli military says it carried out 16 airstrikes early on Monday, targeting two mosques it said were used by militants. It says Palestinian militants fired 10 rockets into Israel that landed in open areas.
