The show is called "The Superstitious State," which, according to MEMRI, is a play on the words "khilafa" ("caliphate") and "khirafa" ("superstition").
Other colorful characters appearing in the promo are Sheikha Mozah, wife of the former Emir of Qatar, a gun-toting, grog-swigging American cowboy, the Joker from Batman, Dracula, and a character that looks a lot like Soviet tyrant Stalin.
According to MEMRI, the promo for the show was first aired on Al-Iraqiyya TV on September 9 and has since been shown several times a day.
Iraqi television is not the only one tying Islamic State to the Jewish people. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has recently expressed concern over an increasing number of prominent public figures including scholars, government officials and clerics from Iraq, Iran, Egypt and Pakistan, who are promoting a conspiracy theory which suggests that ISIS was “created” by Jews and Zionists with the goal of harming Islam.
One of several examples was a comment made by Mohsen Rezaee, former Iranian military commander, in which he said that the “Zionist Entity” is behind ISIS, and that “Zionists” usually try to get rid of others by making them fight each other, claiming that Israel trained ISIS leaders.
Iraqi Ayatollah Sayed Mortada Al-Qazwini, a prominent Shia'a cleric, described ISIS as “a Jewish Israeli organization, established to tear apart the land of Muslims.”
A story was also circulated in the Arab media claiming ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is a Jewish Mossad agent called Simon Elliot.
