IAF official: Syrian plane clearly penetrated Israeli airspace, we respond to all invasions

A senior Israeli Air Force officer said of the Syrian fighter plane interception: “We warned the plane at a height of between 10,000 and 14,000 feet. At this height it is easy to enter into an attack. It clearly penetrated into Israel and it is policy to attack all invaders.”

The officer added: “We don’t have any connection with the rebels, but we have to clarify – no one will invade the sovereign airspace of Israel. It is like invading with ground forces. This is probably our first downing of a Syrian fighter plane since 1985.”
