One man has been killed and 11 others injured in a pile-up accident in the south of Israel. Two trucks and ten other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The crash occurred on Tuesday morning, between the Lehavim and Dvira junctions heading north. Two of the injured were treated at the scene by Magen David Adom and sent to Saroka Medical Center where they are in moderate to serious condition. The road was blocked for traffic for several hours, causing major traffic delays in the area, and opened later in the day.
Last week, a 30 year-old woman was killed and seven others injured in a crash between two cars by the Ein Hatzeva moshav in the southern portion of Route 90. The incident occurred close to a gas station at the junction, and two of the injured, young men in their 20’s, were left in moderate condition.
Others injured were in light to moderate condition, among them three children. A Magen David Adom helicopter and ambulances sent to the scene took the injured to the Saroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva.
Another recent crash in the South resulted in the death of a four year old girl from Tel Aviv, Maya Elchenko, and her 30 year old father Igent. The crash occurred on Route 31 at the Hatrurim junction in the south of Israel.
During the incident Riba Aharoni, the mother of the young girl, was left in serious condition and her other daughter Lee-El also sustained injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized and later pronounced dead. His organs were donated. Police suspect the man was drunk when he tried to dangerously overpass another vehicle on the road and hit the family’s car in the process.
