State Comptroller will review Bank of Israel's conduct and overseas operations

The State Comptroller's Office announced that it will review the conduct of banking supervision at the Bank of Israel, concerning the activities of Israeli banks abroad. The decision was made following the arrangement reached by the National Bank, under which it will pay fines totaling $1.4 billion for abetting tax evasion in the US.

The State Comptroller said that "the review team has already met with the relevant sources on the matter within Bank of Israel and has begun gathering documents."
