Syrian army chief visits Quneitra, Syrian Golan
The Syrian army's chief of staff, General Ali Abdullah Ayyoub, went on an unexpected tour of the Quneitra area and the Syrian Golan Heights this week amid the cold and snowy weather.
The army commander arrived in the area to "assess the troops' preparedness," or rather the preparedness of the troops still left in the area after the Syrian regime lost most of the control of the border area and large parts of Quneitra to al-Qaeda rebel group al-Nusra Front.
During the tour of several Syrian army posts in Quneitra, Ayyoub was surveying the area accompanied by the Syrian army's top brass.
