The United Arab List (Ta'al) party elected on Monday Attorney Osama Sa'adi, the brother-in-law of leader MK Ahmad Tibi, as its number 2. He will be placed on the 12th spot of the joint Arab list for the 2015 elections.
In the 1980s, Sa'adi served as the chairman of Arab Students Union, and as a lawyer he represented security prisoners of all factions - including Hamas - as well as Arab council members who were banished from East Jerusalem to the West Bank. Sa'adi has been the Ta'al director-general since its formation in 1996.
Tibi said of his brother-in-law: "Attorney Sa'adi is important in strengthening Ta'al and the joint list. We're proud of him and he will surely be an excellent and interesting MK."
