Red Crescent workers recover bodies, east of Tripoli, Libya. A spokesman for the Libyan Red Crescent said the bodies of at least 95 migrants have been found washed ashore since the end September. Thousands of migrants seeking a better life in Europe cast off from Libya on rickety boats, hoping to reach Italy. The International Organization for Migration says that more than 2,600 migrants have died in 2015 so far on the Central Mediterranean route.

Iranian mourners attend the funeral ceremony of some pilgrims who were killed in a stampede during the hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia last month, as a mourner holds a banner which reads in Arabic, "May Allah Curse Al-Saud," referring to Saudi Arabia's ruling family, at Tehran University, in Tehran. Iran has blamed Saudi authorities for the disaster, which heightened tensions between the two regional rivals. Iran appears to have lost the largest number of pilgrims, with 464 dead.
