Residents of settlement ordered to stay home following rock ambush

A motorist narrowly escapes attempt to physically remove her from her car near Tekoa in the southern West Bank; man lightly wounded in stabbing attack in Jerusalem.

Residents of Tekoa were ordered to stay home Wednesday morning after a 38-year-old woman from the West Bank settlement was lightly injured and evacuated from the scene of a rock ambush after Palestinian attackers allegedly smashed her windows and attempted to physically remove her from the vehicle before she managed to flee the scene.

Seven cars were damaged in the attack after the group of Palestinians threw stones at vehicles driving on the road leading from Tekoa to Har Homa.

"I woke up like every other morning, got up and left for my job in Jerusalem, and that’s when the attack took place," Rivi Lev Ohayon told Ynet. "I managed to miraculously escape a lynching attempt, I'm just traumatized."

"I was the first car in a line of cars 50 meters ahead of the Beit Sahour checkpoint, when I noticed a line of about 10 people forming a human barrier," she said. "They were all holding rocks, and there were another 10 20-something-year-olds behind them. I saw one of them in front of me with a large rock; I told myself that he was going to kill me."

"I considered driving through them, but I figured hitting him would break my windshield and injure me. So I turned around, and that’s when about 10 of them jumped on my car and broke my windshield, while one of them opened my door, I saw my death. He started kicking me, but I managed to lock the door and drive away. I called the police crying and frightened. They told me to wait on the side of the road for an ambulance, but I decided to continue driving until I got home, and the police were waiting for me there," she concluded.
