Where to get some of the best Hanukkah doughnuts

White chocolate, vanilla, almond sprinkles and even the traditional jam filling: In honor of the year's sweetest holiday, we're bringing you a list of the top pastry shops and eateries where you'll find the best sufganiyot.

Hanukkah doughnuts are a seasonal delight in Israel. Fried or baked, these sweet treats are part of what makes Hanukkah the favorite holiday of the year for many children and adults in the country. Here are some of the best places to buy them in 2015.

 

 

Roladin

The pastry shop/coffee shop chain is known for its variety of Hanukkah doughnuts. This year, along with more classical options, they're offering a collection of Hanukkah doughnuts with unique fillings and toppings.

For instance, you'll be able to find a Hanukkah doughnut filled with vanilla whipped cream and topped with a chocolate pearl meringue, and a strawberry chaser (NIS 10); as well as a Hanukkah doughnut filled with mango, passion fruit, and rum cream, topped with white chocolate, coconut, and chocolate lace (NIS 10).

Biscotti

The Biscotti pastry shop is launching a collection of Hanukkah doughnuts inspired by sweets and deserts from around the world, which includes a number of hand-crafted Hanukkah doughnuts, with fillings and coatings that ate all gestures towards famous deserts from different countries. Thailand's banana loti, Switzerland's Toblerone chocolate, and Austria's black forest cake all get their little spotlight (NIS 8 each).

 

Beside theses, Biscotti will also offer more down-to-earth choices such as Hanukkah doughnuts filled with dulce de leche, white chocolate cream, and strawberry jam (NIS 5).

Metuka Room Service

Ahead of the holiday, the pastry shop and caterer Metuka Room Service ("Metuka" is a variation of the Hebrew word for "sweet", as well as an uncommon, but existing, Hebrew name for girls) is offering a new line of Hanukkah doughnuts, along with their classic flavors. You could find Hanukkah doughnuts filled with jam made from real fruit like strawberries, apricots, and plums – free of additives and food coloring (NIS 5.5).

In addition, they've kept the Vegan public in mind, with date honey-sweetened Hanukkah doughnuts filled with jam on offer (NIS 7).

Bread Story

Bread Story is celebrating Hanukkah by offering baked Hanukkah doughnuts made with classic brioche dough, with various fillings such as strawberry jam (NIS 9), cream cheese (NIS 11), and caramel, with a caramel and Atlantic salt coating (NIS 11).

Max Brenner

This Hanukkah, the chocolate specialists at Max Brenner are offering a special trio of chocolate-heavy Hanukkah doughnuts: Vanilla ice cream and a warm milk chocolate filling; coconut and white chocolate with almond sprinkles; and a white chocolate and strawberry filling with a touch of whipped cream and forest fruits on top.

In addition, they're offering a four-Hanukkah-doughnut package that will include a chocolate of nougat syringe, with which customers could fill their own Hanukkah doughnuts according to their own taste.

Berman Bakery

Berman decided to combine the classic Hanukkah doughnut flavors with refreshing twists. For instance, you could find Hanukkah doughnuts filled with cheese and Oreo cookie cream; Hanukkah doughnuts filled with crème brulee, and cream cheese filling with a cheese coating (NIS 6.8).

In addition, Berman is offering a series of non-dairy Hanukkah doughnuts with a variety of filling, including mocha, vanilla cream, and old-time strawberry jam.

Nomili Patisserie

The French-style patisserie is offering Hanukkah doughnuts made of natural sourdough and 100 percent butter, with a bunch of different fillings such as a milk-chocolate-caramel ganache, with caramelized apple on top (NIS 9) and a patissier cream filling made of 100 percent vanilla, with a vanilla Streusel on top.

Cookeez

The Cookeez chain, which usually specializes in offering ice cream sandwiched between freshly-baked cookies, is launching its line of fresh, limited-edition Hanukkah doughnuts, filled with ice cream. Among the flavors will be Loacker wafers, white chocolate, and banana fudge.

 

In addition, there will by other varieties such as chocolate ganache and sprinkles, Oreo crumbs and white chocolate, and pistachio cream.
