A new teaser for upcoming superheroine film "Wonder Woman", starring Israeli actress and fashion model Gal Gadot, has provided the first look at scenes from the film, which Warner Bros. Pictures hopes will fill a gap in its DC Comics franchise – and action movies as a whole – by having a female lead.
It is also the first superhero movie directed by a woman: Patty Jenkins, who directed Charlize Theron in "Monster" all the way to an Academy Award.
"Wonder Woman is one of the greatest superheroes out there," DC's Chief Officer Geoff Johns recently said. "But people don't know her origin like they know Superman's origin and Batman's origin; and so what we want to do in the film is really tell people who she is, where she comes from, and why she does what she does. We've never seen her on film before."
Director Jenkins said that the "greatest thing about Wonder Woman is how good, and kind, and loving she is; yet none of that negates any of her power."
"Wonder Woman" is set for release in July of 2017. The cast and crew have recently been filming in the United Kingdom.
