Yael, Weissman’s widow, referring to the citation he received said that “they informed us last night. We were pleasantly surprised. During the seven-day mourning period we sent letters to government and military officials. It is especially moving this week of Memorial Day and gives a slightly different outlook on the day. It confirms for me the knowledge Yanai was a hero, I knew he was ran there, fought with the terrorists, obstructed one terrorist and then tried to obstruct the second one. He ran there with his bare hands, he's a hero."

A citation from the Binyamin Regional Brigade commander, Col. Yisrael Shomer, was also awarded to Sergeant Lichai Malka, a combat soldier in the search and rescue brigade. The citation was awarded her for actions during a shooting attack that occurred in Binyamin’s Kikar Adam in the West Bank.
