An 80 year-old elderly man was found seriously injured Wednesday morning in a park in Ramat Gan. "Arabs attacked me," the man said to a passerby before he lost consciousness. Police arrived at the scene and began to investigate the circumstances behind the incident.
An MDA team evacuated the elderly man to Tel Hashomer hospital in serious condition and on a respirator.
Shay Hasid, a park security officer, said, "I got to the scene after a citizen report and I found the elderly man lying in the bushes,
unconscious and with severe head injuries." He said the first person to find the elderly man was a woman walking her dog. "If the woman and the dog hadn't found the man, no one may have noticed him," he claimed.
According to Hasid, the woman told him that the elderly man had whispered in her ear that he was attacked by Arabs. "When she asked him what happened, she said the old man told her three times 'Arabs attacked me.' When I got there, he was already unconscious."
Police also received a report of a man violently attacked in a park. Police from Ramat Gan arrived and immediately began searching the area with the park security officer. Dan district police have opened an investigation into the attack.
MDA paramedic Yonit Nino said, "We found an 80 year-old man in the park suffering from severe head and upper body injuries. We gave him medical treatment that included CPR and evacuated him to the hospital in serious, but stable condition."
