Hilal Masharqeh, 28, a resident of Hadera, who was stabbed while trying to break up a fight between Jews and Arabs in Givat Olga last week, died at Hillel Yaffe Hospital on Sunday.
His body was sent for an autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir.
Masharqeh was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed in the upper body.
Family members said he was stabbed while attempting to break up a fight between young family members of his and young Jews.
A family member said, “He wasn’t involved in anything. He got stabbed in the neck and wounded very seriously.
“The day he was injured, he wanted to calm tensions down, but in the end, he paid with his life. I hope the police find out who stabbed him. Every week we prayed he would recover and come back to his family.”
Since the start of the year, 41 people have been murdered in the Arab sector, including 5 women.
A friend of Masharqeh lamented, “We’re tired of all the incidents of violence and crime. He was murdered in cold blood. Another person joins the list of the murdered and we don’t know who will be next, maybe me, maybe someone else. The feeling these days is that the violence does not distinguish between criminals or the innocent. We are all in danger.”
The police said the investigation was transferred to the central unit of the beach district and currently, there are no arrests in connection with the crime.
