Education and Justice Ministers Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) issued a special statement to their party's activists Friday morning, in an attempt to ackowledge and calm down their harsh criticism over the forced evacuation of Amona, slated for the month of December.
In the statement, Bennett accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud MKs of being responsible for the volatile atmosphere surrounding the evacuation. He also highlighted that Likud MKs had already supported other evacuations and on the current one.
"Now, at the last moment, those Likudniks who have signed off on the demolition have suddenly decided to wake up, after the High Court already issued its decision ordering its destruction. So what do these Likudniks do in response? They sign petitions and shout about how awful the High Court is, to make themselves look very 'right-wing,' despite the fact that many of them, including the prime minister, voted at the time for the disengagement."
