MOGADISHU -- Somalia residents say African Union soldiers killed 11 civilians in two separate incidents over the weekend.
Traditional elder Mohamed Hassan says the first occurred when troops opened fire on a minibus in Qoryooley town in Lower Shabelle region on Sunday. He says all six passengers were killed.
The African Union Mission for Somalia says it is investigating "the unfortunate incident in Qoryooley where civilians lost their lives in an attack."
The force says on Twitter it will issue a statement on the other "allegations."
In a separate incident, residents in Marka town say an AU armored vehicle smashed into a home, killing a mother and four children. Resident Ahmed Sheikh Ali says it occurred after a bomb attack targeted an army convoy.
Somali officials were not available for comment Monday.
