The Hezbollah affiliated Al-Manar Lebanese television network has published a video showing an American drone in the skies of southeastern Syria—with an Iranian aircraft tracking it.
The grainy film showed what looked like a Predator drone, a type the US military uses for reconnaissance and attack missions, flying high above unidentifiable territory.
Iranian aircraft following US drone undetected
The video apparently features an Iranian source speaking in Farsi and following an American UAV on his screen.
"This is an American airplane observed by our aircraft and we can hit it at any moment, but we feel sorry for it," he said. "Our aircraft is following him right now, we can strike it and he cannot see us."
It is not clear when the video was filmed, and its authenticity could not be verified.
The footage emerged as tensions grow between Washington and the military alliance that backs the Syrian government, including Iranian-backed forces such as Hezbollah.
The alliance threatened on Wednesday to hit US positions in Syria, in response to a US strike on Tuesday against what Washington said were pro-government forces.
